TECHNICAL The foundation

Technical SEO.
The foundation that ranks.

Technical SEO is the plumbing that lets your content rank: crawl, index, speed, structure, schema. Get any of it wrong and nothing else works. The best content in the world will not rank if Google cannot crawl it, index it, or make sense of it. A technical SEO audit finds what is holding you back, and we fix it rather than leaving you a report. Want the detail first? Read our guide to the technical SEO audit. It sits underneath everything else in growth.

TECH/01

Crawl & indexationGet found, get indexed, before anything else

None of your content ranks until Google can crawl it and decides to index it, so this is where most technical problems start. We look at crawl budget waste, index bloat from pages that should never be in the index, canonical tags pointing the wrong way, and the 'Crawled - currently not indexed' pages Google has quietly parked. If you have just migrated, we clean up what the move left behind.

  • Crawl budget & crawl waste
  • Index bloat & thin-page pruning
  • Canonical tags & duplication
  • 'Crawled - currently not indexed' fixes
  • robots.txt & XML sitemaps
  • Post-migration index cleanup
TECH/02

Core Web Vitals & site speedA page that loads fast, holds still, and responds

Core Web Vitals are a Google ranking signal, and a slow, jumpy page loses people before they ever convert. We measure real-world performance, not just a lab score, and work through what is actually slowing you down: heavy images, render-blocking scripts, layout that shifts as it loads, and a server that takes too long to respond. Then we fix it.

  • Largest Contentful Paint (LCP)
  • Interaction to Next Paint (INP)
  • Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS)
  • Image & asset optimisation
  • Render-blocking JavaScript & CSS
  • Server response & caching
TECH/03

Site architecture & internal linkingStructure that tells Google what matters

How your pages are organised and linked tells search engines what your site is about and which pages matter most. A flat, tangled structure buries your important pages and leaves others orphaned with no links at all. We map your topical structure, tidy the hierarchy, fix orphan pages, and build internal links that pass authority to the pages you actually want to rank.

  • Topical structure & grouping
  • URL & folder hierarchy
  • Orphan-page detection & fixes
  • Internal linking & anchor text
  • Navigation & breadcrumb review
  • Crawl-depth reduction
TECH/04

Schema & migrations done rightStructured data, redirects, and moves without the drop

Structured data helps Google understand your pages and can earn you richer results in search. We add the schema that fits your business and validate it properly. Migrations are the other side of this: replatform or redesign without a plan and you can lose rankings overnight. We map every redirect, keep the internal links intact, and make sure nothing is left orphaned when the site moves.

  • Schema markup & rich results
  • Structured data validation
  • Redirect mapping & 301s
  • Migration & replatform planning
  • Orphan & broken-link cleanup
  • Post-launch crawl & QA
Crawl

If Google cannot crawl and index a page, that page cannot rank. First job.

Asked &
answered

The technical SEO questions business owners actually ask, answered straight.

What is a technical SEO audit?+
A technical SEO audit is a full check of the things that decide whether search engines can crawl, index and understand your site: crawlability, indexation, site speed and Core Web Vitals, architecture, internal linking, canonicals and structured data. The point is to find what is stopping your content from ranking, then fix it. A report on its own changes nothing.
Why are my pages crawled but not indexed?+
'Crawled - currently not indexed' means Google has seen the page and chosen to leave it out. Usually that is a quality or duplication signal: thin content, near-duplicate pages, weak internal linking, or the page competing with something else on your own site. We work through the likely causes, consolidate or improve the pages, and strengthen the internal links so Google has a reason to index them.
Do Core Web Vitals affect rankings?+
Yes, they are a confirmed Google ranking signal, though a modest one. They will not drag a weak page to the top on their own, and they will not save thin content. Where they matter is at the margins and for users: a slow, unstable page loses people before they convert. We treat Core Web Vitals as part of the foundation, not the whole strategy.
How often should I run a technical audit?+
A full audit once or twice a year suits most sites. Run one sooner if you have migrated, replatformed, redesigned, or seen traffic drop for no obvious reason. Between audits it is worth watching Search Console for crawl and indexation issues, so small problems get caught before they cost you rankings.
Do you fix the issues or just report them?+
We fix them. Plenty of audits hand you a long PDF and leave the hard part to you. We prioritise the issues by impact, then do the work: crawl and indexation, speed, architecture, redirects and schema. You get the fixes implemented, not just a list of problems to forward to someone else.
